The first piece of the typical Qatari head gear, it comes in different shapes and colours:
- Sadaa سادة
The most common one plain and simple, this is my personal day to day go to.
(Check “Photo 1”)
- Mishkhala مشخالة
Practically named after the sieve for food, full of holes and very convenient for the hot weather (usually used by older generation)
- Hybrid
Mix between 1 and 2. (Check “Photo 1”)
- Zaree زري
The colourfull with golden coloured treads, not quite common as it used to be, mostly worn by kids nowadays.
The headgear is designed to keep the head moist and cold in the hot weather, while being flexible for daily use, there are two main angles to wear it solo:
- Under the normal headgear style: parallel to the horizon.
- Tilted backward: almost 30 degrees, usually when playing and running outside (Memories).
